School Liaison, Fort Bliss
The Fort Bliss School Liaison Officer provides information, assistance and support to military parents of school age youth in grades K-12. The School Liaison is the primary point of contact for public and private school matters.
The El Paso area offers a wide variety of schools that include charter schools and home schooling programs. El Paso has nine public school districts and numerous private and parochial schools at every level of schooling. The El Paso, Socorro and Ysleta School Districts have the most military students’ attendance. The box at left lists schools closest to the post.
Contact the school liaison at 568-9306 for further information and a more detailed list on El Paso area schools.
Special Education
The El Paso Rehabilitation Center, located at 2630 Richmond Street, provides speech and hearing, occupational and physical therapy without regard to age.
Information regarding the center and its programs can be obtained from CSC at 568-4614, or Social Work Service, William Beaumont Army Medical Center, at 569-2817.
Volunteer Program, Installation
The purpose of the Installation Volunteer Program is to provide Soldiers and family members the opportunity to get involved with the community. The Installation Volunteer Coordinator works very loosely with agencies and organizations on Fort Bliss that utilize volunteers or are interested in developing positions for volunteers. In addition, the program offers specific training for topics such as volunteer management, volunteer motivation and volunteer recognition. The IVC is responsible for maintaining a database that records volunteer hours as well as the planning of an annual post-level recognition ceremony for the installation. If you have any questions or are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities, contact the IVC at 568-7088.Â
